How it works

  1. 1. Enter the couple

Date, time and place of birth for the bride and the groom. An unfinished entry stays in your browser.

  2. 2. Set the search

The wedding venue, the dates to search (up to 366 days), the time zone and the shortest window the ceremony needs.

  3. 3. Read the shortlist

The best days in order, the strongest windows on each day, and the doshas and shuddhis behind every score.

The doshas and shuddhis it checks

Each is checked at every moment of the search, using sidereal positions for the wedding venue. Lagna Shuddhi counts five times as much as a dosha and Tribala Shuddhi twice as much.

How the scoring works

Shuddhis

Add to a window's score when favorable, take away when not.

  • Lagna Shuddhi

    Counts 5×

Planets well placed from the marriage lagna, with none in a house to avoid.

  • Tribala Shuddhi

    Counts 2×

The transiting Sun, Moon and Jupiter, judged from the bride's and the groom's natal Moon signs.

Doshas

Take points away when present.

  • Vedha

A planet piercing the Moon's nakshatra on the Panchashalaka chakra.

  • Laata

A planet's kick (laata) landing on the Moon's nakshatra.

  • Paata

The Moon's and the Sun's nakshatras forming a Paata pair.

  • Kranti Samya

The Moon and the Sun at equal declination.

  • Dagdha Tithi

A tithi burnt by the Sun's sign.

  • Upgraha

The Moon's nakshatra afflicted by an upagraha, counted from the Sun's.

  • Ekargala

A malefic yoga with the Moon an odd number of nakshatras from the Sun.

  • Mrityu Panchaka

The Sun in a Mrityu baana degree of its sign.

Questions astrologers ask

Which doshas does it check?

Eight marriage doshas: Vedha, Laata, Paata, Kranti Samya, Dagdha Tithi, Upgraha, Ekargala and Mrityu Panchaka. It also checks Lagna Shuddhi and Tribala Shuddhi, which count five times and twice as much as a dosha.

Which ayanamsha does it use?

Sidereal positions with the Lahiri ayanamsha, calculated for the coordinates of the wedding venue.

How is a wedding window scored?

At every moment, each active dosha takes away between a quarter of a point and a full point, depending on its strength. Lagna Shuddhi and Tribala Shuddhi add or take away in the same way, multiplied by five and two. A window scores as its weakest moment, and a day scores as its best window.

Why does the ceremony length matter?

A ceremony lasts longer than an instant. You set the shortest window you need, from 15 minutes to 12 hours, and a window only ranks well if it stays strong from start to finish.

Does a high score mean a date is auspicious?

Not by itself. The score ranks moments within the dates you searched; it is not a verdict on the date. Every window shows the doshas and shuddhis behind its score, so the final judgment stays with you.

What can I search?

Any venue, entered by latitude and longitude, and any range of up to 366 days between 1980 and 2040. Times are shown in IST or UTC.

Can I give my client a report?

Yes. The results page creates a PDF with the birth details, a calendar of the whole range, the top days with their windows, and the doshas and shuddhis active in each window.

What happens to my clients' details?

An unfinished entry stays in your browser for up to 30 days. When you run an analysis, the details are sent to our server to do the calculation. Logs leave out names and birth details, and an encrypted copy of a request may be kept for up to seven days to investigate errors.

Is it free?

Yes. Shubh Vivah Muhurat is in a free preview, and there is no sign-up.
